Facts

In the Rhône Valley, not only vines but also saffron benefit from ideal growing conditions. During a visit to Salgesch, the idea arose to cultivate saffron directly in the vineyards. Together with Diego Mathier, the owner of Blumen Gschwend launched an innovative project. This form of dual use is not very common in Switzerland. Saffron grows anti-cyclically to wine, so that both crops can be grown sustainably on the same land. The mild climate and soil conditions make the project particularly successful.
