The wine labels of the Mathier family line symbolise the most important elements for wine tasting. For the Syrah, Diego had the side view of his face, with his nose in the centre, artistically depicted on the label. The nose of the Syrah also deserves the greatest attention. Aromas and flavours are very important characteristics for great wines.
Diego and Nadia have been running the wine business for the past 20 years with a lot of innovation, a strong hand and a good nose. Diego can be found at the forefront with a lot of energy. He can regularly be found in the vines, at quality control at the grape reception, in the office organising, at the various trade fairs or in the parlour. Like Diego himself, his wine has a lot of character and strength - just see for yourself.
Syrah produces a powerful, very colourful red wine with black-red reflections. When drunk young, it is wild and tart on the palate. Over the years, it develops a spicy aroma of violets and reseda, which transforms into pepper and game flavours over time. At the peak of its maturity, it develops a harmonious flavour that is simply fantastic. Diego himself says that his wine has an appearance like himself: Broad shoulders, an Adonis body, a small belly and a long finish.
Destemmed grape harvest. Fermentation in Vinimatics to ensure optimum temperature control. Subsequent ageing for 15 to 18 months in new barrique barrels.
