Excellent with poultry and roast veal, hard or blue cheese. Fantastic with roast breast of poulard on wild herb risotto.
As a strong, late-ripening grape variety, the Marsanne blanche (or Ermitage) grape is ideal for making unique sweet wines. The Ermitage was dedicated to Nadia Mathier within the family line. The label of this white wine is adorned with a heart as a symbol of the centre of our being, the seat of the soul and the central symbol of love and life. It was precisely this love that brought Nadia to Salgesch with Diego at a young age, and from which five enchanting daughters were born. Nadia not only puts her heart and soul into being a wife and mother on a daily basis - she also looks after the business and the well-being of visitors to our wine cellar with great warmth.
The bouquet becomes increasingly complex with ageing and develops aromas of white truffles. Fresh and intense in the mouth, with a hint of citrus fruit, it leads into a long, elegant finish with a beautiful, tannic note.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place during a nine-month maturation period in French barrique barrels. Only part of the malolactic fermentation is carried out.
