Goes wonderfully with red meat, lamb and barbecues. How about lamb with a herb crust and jacket potatoes, for example?
The Merlot grape, one of the most widespread grape varieties in the world, is mainly found in Europe in Bordeaux, particularly in Pomérol and St. Emilion. In Switzerland, the grape is mainly cultivated in Ticino. In Salgesch, the history of Merlot dates back to the 1930's. Strictly regulated yields and the changing climate have contributed to the fact that top-class Merlots are grown in Valais today, especially here in Salgesch.
The Dom is depicted on the label. At 4,545 metres above sea level, it is the highest Swiss mountain that stands entirely on Swiss soil. The special thing about it: the mountain is located entirely on the territory of the municipality of Randa, the village where Nadia Mathier grew up.
The wine presents itself as a typical Merlot with a dark red colour. It has a spicy nose with notes of dark fruit. The palate is powerful and persistent with a long finish.
Tempered first fermentation to promote the fruit flavours. Maturation takes place in stainless steel tanks with the aim of obtaining a fruity wine typical of the variety. This process preserves its youthfulness and allows it to be drunk immediately.
